Somewhere is a love letter to the California Central Coast. Part general store, part gallery, part beach town daydream, it’s filled with a collection of goods that tell a story—from local artisans and faraway makers, from hand-dyed textiles to sun-washed tees, from little luxuries to practical magic. Everything is chosen with care, meant to spark joy, curiosity, and connection.
A true Mom and Pop shop, Somewhere is run by husband-and-wife duo Dave Ransone and Annie Freeman. Annie grew up just down the road, shaped by the salty air and the creative spirit of the Monterey Peninsula. After years of running a globally recognized skateboarding apparel brand, she returned home in search of the immersion in nature that defined her youth.
Dave, her partner in all things, brings steady hands and a grounding heart to the operation. His time spent as a baker in Big Sur sealed the deal on relocating to the Central Coast after decades of life in Los Angeles and New York. As he told Annie the first time he visited her hometown, “Why on earth would you ever leave this place?” Now, they both feel the same—grateful each day to call this corner of the world home.
Much of the apparel in the shop is made by their own hands, manufactured right here in California. Drawing on connections from Annie’s years in the skateboarding world, and dyeing pieces in their own backyard on the banks of the Carmel Valley River, they embody what it means to be a true Mom and Pop business—from start to finish.
